About me
Gissel began working with the children at Chestnut Montessori in 2022 as a Spanish teacher, and in 2024, she began her Montessori teacher training. Since then, she has continued to deepen her understanding of Montessori philosophy and the important role it plays in supporting children during the earliest years of development.
As a Montessori Toddler teacher, Gissel enjoys guiding children as they develop independence, language, movement, confidence, and a growing sense of themselves. She believes toddlers learn best when they are given the time, space, and encouragement to explore their environment, make meaningful choices, and participate in their daily routines. Her role is to carefully observe each child, understand their individual needs, and provide thoughtful guidance while allowing them the freedom to discover, practice, and accomplish tasks independently.
Before beginning her work in education, she studied Computer Engineering. That experience taught her to approach challenges with curiosity, think carefully through problems, and value continuous learning. Gissel brings those same qualities into the classroom, along with a genuine interest in understanding how young children learn, grow, and develop during these formative first years.
She believes that it is a privilege to support children at such an important stage of life and to help create an environment where they feel respected, capable, and confident as they begin their journey toward independence.
